The hidden gem that is Boliqueime
Boliqueime is a picture postcard village located in the stunning Central Algarve nestled between Albufeira to the West and Vilamoura to the East and just 9km to the nearest beach. Boliqueime is most recently famous for being the home town of the President of Portugal Anibal Cavaco Silva (up to 9 March 2016). In the heart of the village is the beautiful 17th Century Church, Boliqueime is the furthest South West parish of Loule Council. Our corner shop Diamond Properties Algarve can be found in a prime location in the village centre, we are your local Estate Agent experts here to help you buy or sell your property.
Loule Council has it's own famous sea coast with Blue Flag beaches, Championship Golf Course and Marina. Loule Council is one of the biggest and wealthiest councils of the Algarve, parishes include Ameixial, Salir, Alte, Benafim, Tor, Quarenca, Sao Sebastiao, Sao Clemente, Quarteira, Almansil and Boliqueime. Scattered across Boliqueime are it's own charming hamlets such as Cabo, Tenoca, Alfontes, Lombada and many more all waiting to be discovered.
The real Boliqueime is so much more than what you see at Fonte de Boliqueime, head North side of the EN125 road, where you can discover cobble stone streets, shepherds herding their goats, traditional Portuguese houses, wide open fields, stone wall lanes, luxury villas with pools and sea views. Within the village is a welcoming small Portuguese community of 5000 habitants spread across the hills, with a charming Church square at the very heart of the village centre.
Boliqueime is a traditional, residential village open all year round, not affected by the tourist season. In the heart of Boliqueime is a typical array of village shops including a post office, mini market, beauty salon, cafes, restaurants, bar, hotels, hairdresser, marketing company, accountant, dentist, nursery, and an estate agent.
Each day you will hear the chime of the Church Bells the beautiful chosen venue for many local and international weddings. The sound of the beep of the car horn from the Fishman and Breadman with queues of locals at their white vans to buy their fresh supplies of the day.
